LZB InSight

ERIC LEGGE :: Spectacular Studios

We, here at LookZoomBook, have been extremely excited developing the ‘LZB InSight’ - a specifically focused collection of interviews with the creatives on LZB.  We are talking to only the best and only the most driven in the business. Bringing you the stories behind the brands, the stories to still be told and the stories that have an outcome in the most extraordinary results. It’s our pleasure!

The first LZB InSight was a really simple, logical choice - Spectacular Studios, Eric Legge. The force of positivity, creativity & beauty!

Born in 1966, in a family of artists, Eric was raised to believe in his dreams and to believe that anything is possible as long as your heart is fully in it.

An interesting historic fact is that Eric’s grandmother - Sheila Legge - was a muse/mistress to Salvador Dali in the late 1930’s, contributing to and inspiring some of his most relevant pieces of art. She was an artist herself and a book is currently being written about her as a surrealist artist. Eric’s mom was a Swedish model and his father was a film producer and they have both influenced Eric to be a highly creative and open-minded visionary.

As a young boy, Eric started modeling at the age of 14. He later started leaning towards the creative part of the fashion industry, which eventually led him behind the scenes of some of the biggest fashion shows, events, photo shooting and commercial campaigns. In 1994, Eric started a well-known management company, Heaven and Hell Productions.

Today, based in Stockholm/Sweden, he runs an international artists representative agency - Spectacular Studios  alongside his business partner and fiancé - Maria Oldenstedt - Hair and Make up artist.

Spectacular Studios is an international high-end artist representation agency aiming to carry out any creative vision to a perfect reality. Representing and managing Photographers, Stylists, Make up artists, Illustrators and Digital/Motion artists, Spectacular Studios is firmly setting up it’s own irreplaceable mark on the market.

Now, we wanted to know more - we wanted to know who Eric really is and why is the whole Spectacular Studios story so strong and special?

We are proud to have had a chance to talk to and receive such a strong feedback from Eric - who would say for himself that he enjoys drinking tea in the mornings, loves the sea, new ideas and new ways of thinking. He also says that he wants it all - NOW. Above all, he’d define himself as a workaholic - we only see a genius…Enjoy reading…

As a creative person - when do you feel inspired the most?

As a Creative director and an owner of an artist agency and a creative platform (WHYY.se),  I have the PERFECT platform to work and to get inspired from. Every day represents a new day with new information and ideas from our artists..But what truly inspires me is other people’s passion and love for what they do and believe in.

The core vision behind the Spectacular Studios?

Well…In the beginning our goal was to build an agency for genuine artists that need help getting their work out there.. Money was never an issue for what was driving us. Today, I have to say, it is still the same, but we have taken it to a new level with the creative part and are now working more and more as a platform and creative agency alongside our artists. BUT always with the artists’ passion and their drive in mind.

How do you choose which talents you represent?

Wooww… should I really answer that one? Okey.. My choice is driven by emotions and feelings of what I see and feel. Most agencies pick the biggest stars and chase them like mad men.

I really do not care.. Ok, I KNOW that’s were the money is, but it is NOT were creativity and really great work is. I talk to the artists and really try to get a feeling of them… If I feel like the artist has a large ego or other issues that I know would eventually be a problem up ahead, I really do not care HOW great the artist is. I want a humble artist with a open mind and skills that are used in their best interest.

Business plans for the future?

Being aware of the global marketplace at this time, my plan is quite simple actually - we’re concentrating on the Scandinavian market with our eyes widely open towards Asian and European markets as well.

What is the key factor, the ‘it’, in your opinion, in all the people that have what it takes?

To understand that it is not your ego or your drive…it is all about bearing an athlete within your sphere of being a artist and really have the passion and skills for what you are doing. So many young artists think just ‘cause they want and dream, they will succeed…listen, learn and make mistakes and - never let others step on you.

Favorite book?

The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. There is a very very personal story behind this…so, I’ll keep that for the next time.

One word that defines you best?

Love.

If you could influence every living creature by an emotion, what would it be?

Empathy.

What is the thing that drives you mad when it comes to people?:

I really do not like people that use others or abuse other people’s weaknesses… or people in high positions that just do not care.

If you could get an answer to just one question - what would that question be?

Why are people so afraid of just being human?

And that’s a wrap;)

Thank you Eric!
